Can you recall the last time you were celebrated? Do you remember how it made you feel? Did you feel the joy, confidence, energy, and beauty in that one moment?
I grew up in family where we loved to celebrate. I remember one summer day, my two sisters and I watched the Chinese Volleyball team win the World Cup. Immediately, my father rode his bicycle to the store to buy our favorite foods to celebrate their victory. Another time, I won the 100 meter race at school, that night my father cooked a special meal of sweet potatoes. My whole family sat together during dinner and celebrated my achievement. To this day, I can still remember how I felt.
People who know me say I am a happy person. I realize it is because I was celebrated from a very early age. That’s why today I celebrate my children, big or small and just because! My heart fills with joy to see their smiles when I celebrate them and I know this will have a profound impact on their lives.
