Wei's Story

I have developed my own wei of living that I call SHE's Happy

Since I was a little girl, I have always loved life, nature and beauty.

When I was around 8, I would do homework in the mornings. Then, in the afternoons, I would go swimming in the lake with my friends. After drying off, we picked lotus flowers and ate the delicious seeds. Or we would hunt and dig herbs from the fields to make our own herbal "remedies." In the waning light after dinner, I would sit in our courtyard to listen to my father's stories, learn my mother's beauty tips or try out our afternoon's herbal creations.

After enjoying a childhood filled with fun and earning my college degree, I set off for an American adventure.

When I first stepped into a department store, I was thrilled by all the beautiful things I had never seen before in my life. I flitted from counter to counter, filled with dazzling displays of color, glass and chrome. I tried out all kinds of American beauty products. The Western lifestyle had brought my passion for beauty to whole new level.

Now, two decades later, my life is deeply rooted in two great cultures. Like everyone else's, my life has been full of challenges. But no matter what comes, I have learned to combine my Eastern and Western life knowledge to meet each day's new challenges. I have developed my own "Wei" of living that I call "SHE's Happy."

Simple --- Clarity
Healthy --- Balance
Elegant --- Confident
Happy --- Present

My approach to life changed when a tragedy hit my family in China. A few years ago, I got a call from my sister. She told me my mother was dying of liver cancer. I couldn't believe it, but then I talked with her doctor, and the reality hit me. The tears poured out of my eyes.

When I thought about all of the wonderful times I spent with my mother, I cherished the sweet memories, but felt even more sad. As she and I talked over the next few days, I realized no matter who we are, we all have three things in common.

  • We come into this world one day.
  • We make the choice of how we want to live in this world every day.
  • We all leave this world one day.

To celebrate my mother’s life, I flew home to host a "Beautiful Life" party. All her friends and family came. Some wrote poetry for her, some got on stage to tell funny stories they did as teens. My mother gave the most inspiring speech to all of us. At the end, all her daughters and grandchildren sang "Mom is the Best."

This event showed me the power of choosing happiness. I am forever grateful that I have a truly inspiring mother. More than ever, I want to live my beautiful life to inspire my own children, family and friends.

Now, my goal is to enjoy 60 seconds of happiness every minute. My wish is for you to enjoy happiness every minute.
