Last weekend I celebrated Halloween with my daughter. If you didn’t know it already, I absolutely love Halloween. After I came to the United States, and bought my first house, I remember every Halloween, I would sit on my porch, with my decorated house, waiting for the children to come asking for candy. I don’t just love the excited looks on every child’s face, but I love the spirit of the community. It is a day where we all come together to help bring joy to the children, by trusting each other with our children’s safety, while opening our doors to those we do not know. This feeling of trust and openness is what leads to that feeling of love. And for me, love is just that: a feeling. You don’t know what it is until you have it. So whether it’s loving a partner, a friend, or your child, or simply loving a holiday, once you get that “loving feeling,” it’s a beautiful thing.

For this week’s blog, I wanted to do things a little differently and share some photos from the Asian Women In Business Awards Gala I attended earler this month. I was so humbled to be selected as one of the award winners along with an incredible group of talented women. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Believe it or not, last week I turned 26. Okay… maybe not. Try 26 plus 20 more years!
I truly do not know where the time went. I have always believed though, that if time flies, I must be having fun. I thank God for a wonderful and happy 46 years, and I look forward to 46 more…as long as I don’t look like I’m 130 years old by that time! Happy birthday to me, and happy birthday to everyone else who is sharing this month with me. Wishing you the best year ever!

I have some wonderful news that I would like to share with all of you. This week, before I come down to HSN for my visit, I am going to be in NYC for the 2009 Asian Women in Business Leadership Award. I am very honored to have been selected to receive their Entrepreneurial Leadership Award. This is a distinguished honor and one that is a defining moment in my life. It makes me think of an old Chinese saying ‘one for all & all for one.’ It makes me realize that after all of my success I never could have done it all without some very important people in my life.
If it were not for my mother planting a strong passion for herbs in me starting at a young age, or my father raising me with a grounded business sense. If it were not for my sisters, standing behind me 100 % along the way or my husband supporting me through all the ups & the downs. If it were not for my chemist and lifelong friend encouraging me to start a skincare line based on my knowledge of herbs and bring it to the U.S. If it were not for my team at HSN partnering with me to help my dreams become the fastest growing skincare line. If it were not for my dedicated team of employees from across the globe, both in the U.S. & in China to help me solve the everyday challenges. If it were not for my beautiful children providing me with the inspiration to keep going. And if it were not for all of you, my Weidies, giving me a chance to tell my story, share my knowledge and help to spread the benefits for Traditional Chinese inspired beauty, I would not be the person I am today. So, I thank you all for your support. Together we are all intertwined in the fabric of my heart and I thank you for joining me for this journey!

Last night, my Wei East team celebrated the Moonlight Festival together, as a family, with a wonderful dumpling dinner and plenty of laughs. Every year I look forward to the Moonlight Festival because I know when it arrives, it means that my favorite season Autumn is finally here. I’ve always loved Autumn because it fascinates me to watch Mother Nature work her magic and change the world from one season to the next.
We must adapt to the change of the seasons. Believe it or not, your skin may start to realize the change in seasons before you do because when seasons change, your skin can take a serious toll if not properly cared for. The best way to prepare is to start to change your skincare routine according to your skin’s needs. I know that once I see the leaves change color, and the temperature decrease, it’s time for me to begin a new skin regimen. I begin to use White Lotus products to help my skin retain and maintain more moisture during the colder weather. You can choose to more intuitive to your skin’s needs. Remember, if you are always one step ahead of change, you will always be in the best position.

This morning, my daughter and I sat on the patio outside my house and simply looked up to the sky. I know autumn has begun when I am greeted by the crisp air and the heightened sky. As we sat there, we began looking at the clouds as they flew by and imagining what each cloud was. “That one looks like a sheep,” said Katie, as I replied, “Well, that one looks like a dog.” We continued going back and forth, using our imaginations to picture each cloud as an animal, flower, or even a person. We became lost in our own imaginations, surrounded by nature’s beauty. It made me realize how much we take for granted. If only we could all spend just a few minutes of each day, sitting around, gazing at clouds, appreciating the world around us. Sometimes it’s good to just stop, take a minute to relax, and let our imagination run wild as we observe the beauty surrounding us.

Today I was hosting our usual weekly staff meeting and like normal I always start off by updating the team with what’s new and what’s hot. As I was I was going down the list I realized “Wow! There’s lots of new things going on at Wei East right now!” We just moved into a new office, unveiled a brand new website, launching new products, hiring new people and so many new things on the horizon. All of this, plus, I’m only 6 days out from my upcoming Moonlight Festival on HSN! With so many things going on life is very exciting right now, but also a little crazy – in a good way of course
At that very moment as I was talking to my staff I had an “A-Ha!” moment. I realized that no matter how many new & exciting things I try to juggle at once, I have to constantly to remind myself to stay balanced. Otherwise, life is no longer beautiful.

A beautiful life is a balanced life.
Today I was in a local garden with my son. Even in late summer there are still so many flowers blooming – pinks, purples and blues. We also saw Lotus growing in pots. Like my son said “nature is beautiful”.
Being in the beauty business, I am often asked, “What is beauty?” For me, I believe beauty is about balance. When things are in balance, everything is beautiful.
The same applies to a woman’s beauty. For me, beauty is not about wearing expensive clothing and fine jewelry, but rather finding a way to take care of ourselves that allows us to keep everything in balance and feel confident. Just like a lotus flower. Though it may be born in the mud, it blossoms and stands high and proud, it finds its beauty in its own way within itself. And that, right there, is true beauty.

“Everything has its beauty,
but not everyone sees it” ~ Confucius
People say it takes a village to raise a child. Well, our team here at Wei East has raised a beautiful child: our new Weieast.com website! Kudos to our team, especially Jackie, Nicole, Jeanne and Manuel. Beyond hard work, they have put their heart and soul into building a website that has the customer experience front and center. Kudos to our web developer, who has been our dream partner. They have allowed us to make a smooth transition from old to new while working with us with ease. Finally, kudos to our customer product testing team. Your feedback has made this child grow and develop into a beautiful adult. With this new website comes a brand new blog. We now have a fresh, blank canvas on which to share our thoughts and ideas. It’s up to us girls to paint a colorful and happy picture on it. So let’s draw some happy faces, add some color to our cheeks, and put on some bright lipstick, and get ready to chat! My commitment is to post my personal blog every Saturday about beauty, health, love, and happiness. Please join me in sharing your views and comments! Have fun girls!
