I love anything that is green, which is why I really do love St. Patrick’s Day! Although I am Chinese, one day we were having fun on HSN and I changed my name to Wei O’Brian

I especially love this holiday because green, for me, represents nature. And we all know I love nature! St. Patrick’s Day is just such a fun holiday. People simply hope from pub to pub enjoying their day. We used to say that green beer was the Irish wine. So whether or not you’re Irish, treat yourself and go out, drink some Irish wine, and have fun!

International Women’s Day

In two days it will be International Women’s Day. This holiday is celebrated in China and I am happy I was able to experience this day during my childhood. On March 8 every year all the women in China get a day off from school and work, while the men continue to live their lives. From an early age, I never felt inferior to men, and I was always taught I was a strong as a man. It was said that “women hold up half the sky.” This belief has anchored me in everything I do. I have never doubted my abilities, and I have always believed I could accomplish anything. Today I see that many places celebrate this whole month as “women’s month.”

And let me tell you, us girls are worth it!

“Congratulations and be prosperous in the New Year!”

Chinese New Year began this Sunday, February 14th (also Valentine’s Day). It’s funny. Over the years the Western World has become more and more aware of the Chinese New Year celebration, just like China has started celebrating Christmas. But, what exactly is Chinese New Year? Next week, I’ll visit my daughter’s class to celebrate Chinese New Year with all her classmates. Following the tradition, I will give each child a red envelope with money inside, and I’ll explain the Chinese culture to them. Most importantly, I will explain that Chinese New Year is a family holiday. Just as Christmas has become associated with giving, Chinese New Year is associated with a family gathering. We all come together during this holiday to eat the traditional Tang Yn Fan and just spend time with each other. I remember my mother and aunt used to plan for us all to go to fifteen different houses and meals during the two week period that the New Year lasts. I believe that because of this holiday, a sense of family value was instilled in me from a very young age. I am trying to instill this same value in my children because I think it is very important for children to see the importance of family in everyday life. Have a great Chinese New Year!

Tomorrow I will be joining my onscreen twin sister, Connie on the phone, to do our 6th anniversary Valentine’s Day show together. I have to say that for the past six years I have really enjoyed our sisterhood, though she may have blonde hair while I have jet black. Nonetheless, she is a smart, fun, positive, warm, and loving woman. What you see is what you get with Connie. Just like our “twin sister” Valentine’s Day collection! I hope you don’t miss out on my show or the collection! When Connie and I get together, it’s always double the trouble, double the fun!

This past week I’ve been running around like crazy getting ready for my show and the office has been very busy as well! Nicole put together the show visit guide to help you navigate your skin solutions. Yvonne ensured that all the products arrive at our warehouse in time for the show. Tien made sure the details of the show were carried out smoothly. And Jeanne and I worked to make sure we could clearly communicate what our products can do for you. After all this hard work & preparation, it has made me realize that it really does take a village to raise a child…or your skincare routine!

Recently, through an industry insider, I heard that consumer trends are showing a move into a more holistic approach to health and beauty. I am extremely excited for this news. It is not because we are in this area of the beauty industry, but rather because I truly and firmly believe that using holistic means is a healthier way to good living. It is not that I am against science and technology. Science is what validates and improves nature. However, I believe that if you are against nature, you will pay the price in the future. Instead of cutting down a forest of trees, we should preserve them before we have nothing left. The same is true for your skin. I believe that we should use nature in its most natural way in order to benefit ourselves both inside and out.

I have always loved the holidays, especially at this time of year. I have lots of sweet memories associated with this time of year. I will always remember my first Christmas. I celebrated with my husband and his family, though I was only his girlfriend at the time. His mother went out of her way to make me feel welcome and help to make my first Christmas special. She bought me more presents than I had ever received, and beyond the gifts, she treated me as her own daughter. I felt a warm and sweet sense of belonging. I fell in love with not only my husband, but his whole family after that holiday. Because of this, I try to go out of my way to make everyone feel special at this time of year, just like my mother-in-law did for me. I believe that when women and people in general receive a good feeling, they want to spread that feeling to others. That is why I have created my beauty recipe. My mother gave me her beauty secrets, which have helped me to live confidently. It is my goal to use these secrets to spread beautiful skin to women everywhere so they too can experience feeling stunning in their own skin. So as you contemplate what to give your loved ones this holiday season, consider spreading good feeling through love and joy just as both my mother and mother-in-law have done for me.

Love is really a message that can be expressed in many different ways, especially during the holiday season. There is, of course, the traditional way: buying gifts. However, as we all know, this often causes a lot of stress. There never seems to be enough time when it comes to buying, wrapping, and giving presents. We are all experiencing this right now as gifts seem to be taking over our lives. But does it really need to be this complicated? Sometimes it’s just about the simple things. This morning, I awoke to find a handmade note from my daughter with a simple heart and her name. Though it may not have been extravagant or pricey, I thought it was the best gift I could have received. It showed, quite simply, her love and care for me, and that’s exactly the point of gifts in the first place, isn’t it? As I said, love can be shown in many different ways. It’s not always about the toy on the wish list, or the diamond bracelet we see at the mall. God did not create this season to stress us out, but rather to bring us together through love, care, and the act of giving. Happy Holidays!
